UK Train Crash Emergency Crew helped by Scientology Volunteer
Ministers
Scientology Volunteer Ministers dispatched from Manchester
and Edinburgh to the Cumbrian crash scene worked through the
night and the next day helping police and emergency crews.
The 20 Volunteer Ministers provided food, water and a change
of clothing as well as their trademark Scientology "Assists"*
to help relieve stress and weariness to tired emergency service
personnel.

VMs arriving to help |
As with the London bombings of 2005, there were no walking
injured or crash survivors in the site, they had all been
transported to hospitals or to their destinations so help
was limited to assisting emergency services at the scene.
The VM's efforts won tremendous appreciation from the authorities
and local residents. One senior police official on duty at
the crash scene had worked with the Volunteer Ministers at
the London underground bombings, so knew their value.
In the words of L. Ron Hubbard, who formed the Scientology
Volunteer Ministers: "A Volunteer Minister does
not shut his eyes to the pain, evil and injustice of existence.
Rather, he is trained to handle these things and help others
achieve relief from them and new personal strength as well."
Assists are techniques developed
by L. Ron Hubbard. They operate on the principle that one
tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured
area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one
bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly
speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate
stress and physical aches and pains, or to orient a confused
or distraught individual to his present environment.
